Whether I am busy running Laced With Romance or playing tambourine with my husband in our band The Tunnels... I'm loving what I do!!!
I was born in 1974 surrounded by my Mom and Aunts, who all had amazing style. I have a very fond memory of my 5th birthday party where they were all dressed in tattered patch-worked bell bottom jeans with some kind of variation of the gauze ethnic top. Two of them with gloriously huge Afros and one with disheveled wavy golden lock down past her bum. We are all hand in hand singing "Ring Around The Rosie" and my mom has two of those silly birthday cone hats on each side of her Afro head. The silhouette she creates when her back hits the sun and the way she smiled with such a light and ethereal spirit has stayed in my mind crisp and clear even after all this time. That memory has played a major role in the aesthetics of my life and the store. Before owning Laced With Romance, I lived in Houston and owned a small vintage wholesale business. I would travel back and forth from Houston to Austin once a week for two years supplying alot of the vintage shops around town. Every time I would come to Austin, I wouldn't want to leave. So, I sold my small business to a friend, packed my bag, and moved to the "Live Music Capital" of the world. I took a job working in a small vintage shop that I had previously sold to and then soon after was hired as the head merchandiser of Urban Outfitters. I did that for a couple years and it was an amazing experience, but realized I need to get back to my vintage roots. I needed the mystery, the hunt, and the adventure! I came up with the idea that I would go back to waiting tables (a form of work that had gotten me through so many previous moments of purgatory) and then opened up Laced With Romance. It was a very humble beginning, with no actual start up money. I would sell one item and then buy two. We start with my husband photographing and myself modeling. Like so many stores starting off I had no idea what I was in for, but kept at it and after a year and half was able to hire a photographer and two models. Thanks to my husband, family, and friends who believed in me, we are able to bring you some of the best vintage on Ebay. We LOVE LOVE LOVE our customers and we all work our bums off to keep you looking like stone cold foxes, because without you there would be no us!!!
